There are two myths currently circulating in the advertising world.

The first myth is that traditional and large companies are too big to care and come up with marketing programs that really resonate with customers.

Patagonia busts that myth every single day and they are a very large company. There is a list of about 100 other large companies that we could list that make this a myth as well. The second myth is that small companies can’t compete with the big boys because they don’t have the resources or the means to do so.

With social media, content marketing, email marketing, and so many other assets at the disposal of a small company the playing field has been leveled.

Small companies can go toe to toe with the big guys. The truth is that it takes time, energy, strategic innovation, and a removal of a culture that focuses more on “clocking in and out” than it does on “what can we do better.” When you start focusing on the truths you can debunk the myths. Whether you are a small or large company you can have excuses or rationalizations. Or you can just do the work.
